Saved by deGrom.

Jacob deGrom’s six innings of dominance over the Dodgers salves a win in Texas’s 4-game series.

It seems to be a regular thing. The Rangers gave up yet another home run to the first batter of the game. This was on the first pitch.

Shohei Ohtani took Jacob deGrom deep to put the Rangers down 1-0 before the catcher had even touched the ball.

But being the future Hall of Famer, deGrom settled down and pitched six scoreless innings after that, striking out nine and not giving up another run. He left the game with a 3-1 lead, the bullpen wobbled but held it, the Rangers scored a couple more runs and walked away with a 5-2 win in the final game of the series.

It might seem like just one victory, early in a long season, but the fact that they won against the Dodgers was remarkable. Los Angeles has a much deeper roster, with an All Star at every position.

So, Texas heads to Sacramento for four games against the Athletics, who they are surprisingly tied with for first. Showing the could beat the Dodgers should give them the confidence that they can beat anyone.
