Seven pitches.   Recently updated !

The debut of the Rangers new uniforms didn’t end well, or start well.

Win one, lose one. Win one, lose one. The Rangers .500 train rolls on.

After beating the Pirates two out of three, the Rangers lose the opener to the Athletics 8-1. This one ended early, just seven pitches into the game. Nathan Eovaldi gave up three solo home runs in his first seven pitches. After six starts, he’s 2-4 with a 5.79 ERA.

His two wins have been vintage Eovaldi. His four losses have been vintage Scheppers. If the Rangers have hopes of a playoff appearance, or even getting off this .500 treadmill, they’re going to need more of the good Eovaldi starts than the bad.

Last night was the bad. Six earned runs in six innings. Four home runs. But the offense didn’t help bail him out anyway, managing to score just one run. It was an offensive performance usually reserved for when they face lefties. You couldn’t blame last night’s lack of offense on The Shed. The Athletics found their way out of it four times.

This Rangers team just can’t seem to put together a sustained run of good baseball. To start, they need to put together a run longer than seven pitches.
