The first two months of the season are down. The Rangers head into June on a three-game winning streak. Three games under .500 and hopelessly unable to tread water. June will be crucial. If this team continues to be mired in third or fourth, continues to largely struggle at the plate, the countdown will continue on the last remaining vestiges of the fluke that was 2023.
There have been pleasant surprises. Josh Jung and Ezequiel Duran have been the contributors toward respectability. Without them, this would be Chris Woodward bad.
Brandon Nimmo has been as expected. Consistent, productive.
Joc Peterson is showing signs of being tradeable instead of DFA-able.
Corey Seager is having his worst year ever. Wyatt Langford was failing to live up to his promise once again before he went down. Evan Carter will always be the Savior of ‘23. Jake Burger is great in streaks, invisible in longer streaks.
It’s a team that needs a rebuild. Not a retooling. It’s a team that needs a commitment to winning. Not a gee we hope we can hang in there.
