The American League beat the National League in the All-Star Game 4-0. It was inevitable, considering the National League is having a historical dominating season in interleague play over the American League.
The Rangers had one All-Star, Jacob Latz. He pitched to one batter, struck him out, and earned the most worthless stat of all—the hold, which is a save for non-closers, a participation trophy stat.
Now, the first-place Rangers take the next two days off before heading to Atlanta to play the first-place Braves. It will be like the Clash of the Titans with two first-place teams. Except, the Braves at 55-40 would be six games ahead of the Rangers, who are 49-47, if they were in the same division.
So, it’s the Clash of One Titan and One Titan-Wannabe. Let the second half begin. No, really, let it begin. The All-Star break is boring.
