That thud you’re hearing is the Rangers falling back down to earth. When Jacob deGrom has a bad game, the Rangers are in trouble. 

DeGrom gave up five runs in 4.2 innings last night. The Rangers were mugged 10-3. DeGrom’s outing came on the heels of Nathan Eovaldi’s 8-5 loss against the Braves in his last start. When their two aces struggle, the Rangers have nobody to turn to for help.

Their second half of the season started with a brutal schedule. First-place Atlanta. First-place Chicago. Now first-place Seattle. First-place Tampa Bay. Twelve games in a row against first-place teams, then three against Houston to take them to the trade deadline. 

They very well could be dead by then.
