Even though the Rays have the best record in baseball, they just cannot seem to win when they come to the Shed. Kind of like the Rangers going to Seattle and finding a black hole there, the Rays came into last night’s game having lost nine games in a row in Arlington. 

That was a good sign for a Rangers team desperately needing every win it can get. Especially knowing the Astros and Blue Jays had already won. The Rangers have to catch the Astros for the division title and need to pass the Blue Jays for the wildcard. 

They made it ten in a row over the Rays, with another gem from Cal Quantrill, who has turned himself into the ace of the Rangers rotation. In five August starts, Quantrill went 2-2 in August with a 1.45 ERA, twice giving up no earned runs, twice giving up just one. Last night, his first September start, he took up where he left off with another scoreless seven innings of work, allowing just two hits.

You have to wonder where the Rangers would be without Quantrill.
