Coming into last night’s game, Jacob deGrom ERA in the first inning in 2026 was 8.23. 

Last night against the Twins, he got out of the first inning one, two, three. He decided to delay his first-inning meltdown until the second inning. Delay the torture. Like the entire Rangers team has done to its fanbase, extending this excruciating pain into the second to last day of the season.

DeGrom’s second inning looked like this: Walk, single, single, single, strikeout, single, triple, wild pitch, lineout, single, groundout. 

When it was all said and done, Minnesota scored six runs, and the game was over and deGrom’s ERA for the season shot up to 4.20. This is the Rangers’ ace.

This is the Rangers’ ace who turned down a trade at the deadline because he said, “I want to be here. I believe in this group.” This is the Rangers’ ace who after every loss where he has given up more runs than Taylor Farms lettuce, he says things like, “I needed to be better” and “I let the team down.”

Last night, after giving up those six runs along with two more, deGrom said, “That was not good.” Finally, he was on target with something. Losing 10-2 to the Twins in a must-win game was, indeed, not good.

To make matters worse, Josh Jung fractured his hand after being hit by a pitch in the first inning and is lost for the remaining two games of this lost season.

To make matters even worse than worse, the Astros continued torturing Rangers fans by losing to the Athletics, thereby refusing to let the Rangers 2026 season die in peace.
