I am not a future Hall of Fame manager. I do not possess three World Series rings. I have not managed a baseball team higher than the t-ball level. I fully admit my place in the baseball pecking order. But I would like the answer to one question. Why did […]
Max Scherzer hadn’t pitched in five weeks. It turns out Max Scherzer looked like a guy who hadn’t pitched in five weeks. With the luxury of being up two games to none in a best of seven, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy could afford to give his prize possession at the […]
The Rangers are coming home for Game 3. Forgive them if they forget which dugout to sit in. If they show up late because they took a couple wrong turns, it will be understandable. The Rangers have played one game in Arlington since September 25. That’s almost three straight weeks […]
Bases loaded. No outs. Fifth inning. Rangers up 5-2. Game on the line. Then something absolutely amazing happened. It wasn’t what Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi did on the field that was the most amazing. It was that he was allowed to stay on the field in the first place. A […]
With the world’s worst bullpen, how many 2-0 wins did the Rangers have during the regular season? You might be surprised. Five. (They didn’t have a 1-0 shutout.) So, last night’s 2-0 shutout of the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series wasn’t unprecedented. But it sure […]
It’s finally here. Football Sunday in Texas. The Rangers face off against the Astros to see who goes to the World Series. After six years of futility and losing, the Rangers are back in the Championship Series for the first time since 2011. For Houston, it’s their seventh year in […]

The thirty-nine-year-old Rangers starter Max Scherzer told reporters Friday he’s ready to go. “I checked all the boxes I possibly can.” The future Hall-of-Famer added, “I respect what Houston […]
The final four teams are set. Atlanta won 104 games. They aren’t in it. Baltimore won 101 games. They aren’t in it. Los Angeles won 100 games. They aren’t in it. In fact, the five teams with the most wins in the 2023 season were eliminated from the playoffs. Neither […]
The Super Bowl goes through Texas. This football crazed state has its dream matchup. The Houstons and Dallas Fort Worths meet in the 2023 something. Both teams ended up with identical records, 90-72. The Astros have been in the Championship Series seven times in a row. The last time they […]
Strike. Strike. Foul. Ball. Ball. Foul. Ball. Foul. Foul. Foul. Foul. Foul. Foul. Foul. Line out to left. In what has to be the most fruitful leadoff out in Rangers playoff history, Nathanial Lowe systematically sapped the life out of Orioles starter Dean Kremer’s arm, making him throw pitch after […]
