Is it too late to return MacKenzie Gore? Okay, maybe he’s slightly used, so Texas gets only three or four of the prospects they dealt for him back, not all five. Like a restocking fee. Let the Washington Nationals keep something for him.

Gore would be better served as a relief pitcher. He can go all out for an inning or two, but stretch him all the way to three, four, or—gasp!—five innings, and he is a big inning waiting to happen.

Last night, it was a four-run fifth. That was on top of the three runs he had already given up. The Rangers offense, which had been pretty good of late, just can’t overcome a Gore start time after time. It’s just asking too much.

So, Chris Young needs to call Washington and see if there’s some kind of refund or exchange he can make. Maybe they can even toss in a reflecting pool.
