Today’s the day. Baseball games. All across baseball, from Arizona to Florida, guys in major league uniforms play guys in other major league uniforms today.
The exhibition season begins. The Rangers play the Royals today in Surprise at 2:05. And more important that who plays is simply the fact that they are playing. After another long winter of darkness, baseball is back. Let the groin pulls begin.
For the next six weeks, it won’t count for anything. It won’t mean anything. It won’t accomplish anything. But it will be baseball. Savor it because after this year, it’s going away for a while.
But that’s the topic for later. As for now, the Rangers have a new manager, new coaches, a few new hitters, a new starter, and, hopefully, a shot at the playoffs.
As for now, it’s baseball.
Glorious baseball.
