Home opener.

The Rangers Rally Sombrero.

It’s opening day again. The joy of opening the season on the road is you get to experience opening day on opening day. And you get to experience opening day again.

After winning their first two series on the road, the 4-2 Rangers are back in The Baseball Shed to face the Cincinnati Reds.

They come home with an offense that is clicking, and a bullpen that is dealing.

The new guys are contributing in a big way. Andrew McCutchen is hitting .429, Brandon Nimmo is at .360, and Danny Jansen is at .294.

Jake Burger had himself a great opening road trip, hitting .346. Corey Seager comes home hitting .318.

Overall, the Rangers are eighth in team hitting and team OBP and sixth in runs scored. They have the second-best bullpen ERA in the American League, sixth overall. About the only place they are scuffling is the rotation, and that’s largely due to a very un-Eovaldi-like start for Nathan Eovaldi.

Opening day brings with it hope and optimism and, in the Rangers case, nachos that come in a wearable hat. Nothing says hola to a new season like the Rally Sombrero, a fried tortilla in the shape of a 26-inch diameter hat that’s edible and filled with nine-layer dip.

Play ball. Bring your glove. Bring your enthusiasm for a new season. Bring your Pepto-Bism0l.
