Evan Carter steals a three-run HR.

Many home games this year have been yawners because nobody could hit on either team. Rangers home games have been soccer, not baseball.

But last night there was no drama, in a good way. The Rangers went ahead early and dominated the entire game. Victory was never in doubt. Especially after Evan Carter made an incredible catch of an Oneil Cruz wanna-be home run that he snagged over the center field wall for an out. What would have been a three-run homer turned out to be the third out of the inning. Then the Rangers stuck in the dagger by scoring three runs in their half of the fifth.

After Pittsburgh scored a run in the first, Texas scored two in the second to go up 2-1. Then those three runs in the fifth sealed the 5-1 victory. Kumar Rocker picked up his for W of the year, pitching his best game of the season so far, allowed to go six innings, giving up just four hits and striking out five while walking only one.

Five different Rangers drove in a run. It was team work up and down the lineup. It was a satisfying victory.

It was drama free. Which is much different, and better, than energy free.
