They’re coming, they’re going. The transaction train was busy yesterday.
Texas made some moves because of injuries. They signed starter Chris Paddack, called up infielder Cameron Cauley, brought Evan Carter off the I.L. and sent Wyatt Langford back to the I.L.
Brandon Nimmo and, of course, Corey Seager, are hurting but not badly enough to be I.L.ed.
Paddack was immediately tossed into action, coming into the game in the second inning and giving the Rangers four good innings.
Cam Cauley tripled.
Evan Carter went 2-for-3.
Other earlier injury fill-ins Justin Foscue and Nicky Lopez contributed as well, with Foscue getting two doubles and two RBIs and Lopez going 2-for-4.
They did this last year as well, when Cody Freeman came up and gave them a shot of adrenalin, along with the other so called Little Rascals, Michael Helman and Alejandro Osuna.
They couldn’t sustain that. This Rangers team needs offense to overcome their thinnest in starting pitching. Maybe they have finally turned the corner, these misfits and spare parts.
If nothing else, five wins in a row means Rangers baseball is fun to watch again. And it’s been a long while since that was the case.
