Delino DeShields makes one of the season’s best catches for the second out in the bottom of the eighth inning. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as the Twins would go on to tie the game, then win it in the ninth. Less than five minutes after Tom Grieve and Steve Busby […]
The Rangers are about to embark on another stretch of thirteen games in thirteen days. This time, though, it’s against teams that aren’t as daunting as the Astros, Giants, Yankees and Angels. So, don’t expect them to do as well. The first three are in Minnesota, starting tonight, against the […]
I grew up watching baseball in the 70s. Specifically, I followed the Cincinnati Reds. The decade of the ‘70s was the golden era of being a Reds fan, just like 2010/2011 was the golden era of being a Rangers fan. Like the Rangers, the Reds fell on hard times once […]
Shawn Tolleson strikes out Jesus Montero with bases loaded, picking up teammate Ryan Strausborger who started the mess by dropping a Seth Smith fly ball for a two-base error to lead off the inning. Ryan Strausborger got his first major league hit yesterday. He won’t remember it. Because he […]
The Rangers record since they acquired Cole Hames: 7-2. The Rangers record in game Cole Hamels has pitched: 0-2. Conclusion: Baseball makes no sense.
I wrote this the day after the Rangers embarrassing 21-5 loss to the Yankees. I was going to post it that day, but then the news broke of the Cole Hamels trade and then the Rangers started winning and then there was so much other great stuff to talk about […]
The Rangers get the force play in the ninth to close out the inning, sweeping the Astros and moving to within only five games of first place. Back in the glory two years of this franchise, the Texas Rangers had a theme song, Merle Haggard’s “That’s The Way Baseball […]
Shawn Tolleson puts the first two runners on in the ninth, then goes to work preventing the Astros from scoring, striking out batting champion Jose Altuve to end the game and preserve the win. What a difference a week makes. A week ago, the Rangers hit their lowest point in […]
“This ball is history” in more ways than one last night when Adrian Beltre homered to become only the fourth player in history to have hit for the cycle three times in his career. Every team plays 162 games a season. 50 series. As the ebbs and flows of the […]
Martin Perez had one of the most remarkable pitching performances of the year yesterday, and it almost went up in smoke when his manager pulled him with one out in the ninth inning for a litany of lesser Rangers bullpen pitchers who valiantly tried to give his win away. I would like to apologize […]
