You can feel it sweeping all over Texas. The excitement is magical as the eyes of the world are on Arlington.
No, it’s not World Cup fever. It’s the Texas Rangers returning to mediocracy.
Finally, for the first time since May 1, the Rangers are back to even at 34-34, after knocking off the Royals two games to one in Kansas City.
Corey Seager hit his second home run since coming off the I.L. and is showing signs of breaking out of the deep slump he was mired in before being injured. He’s hitting only .238 in his five games back, but at least he’s making contact, striking out only four times in those five games. He seemed to have four strikeouts per game before being hurt. His average is scratching and clawing its way to .200. Baby steps.
Jake Burger is in one of his positive mood swings. Every ten games he is either all world or lost in space. Right now, he is hitting, picking up two hits yesterday.
Brandon Nimmo is showing signs of regaining his earlier dominance at the plate. After a torrid April, he had a forgettable May.
The Rangers aren’t exactly setting the baseball world on fire, but they are playing much better of late. And for once, they were able to get to .500 after so many failed attempts to get there.
Now, let’s see if they can get over the hump and build from there. The world is watching.
