The Rangers lost two out of three to the first place White Sox. And for that, they get to move on to play the best team in baseball—the Brewers—for three in Milwaukee.

It didn’t help that they ran themselves out of the first inning, with Corey Seager getting picked off first after a one-out walk, then Wyatt Langford getting thrown out trying to steal after a two-out walk. Seager getting picked off was inexcusable. That was a situation where a guy just fell asleep. Langford at least was trying to get something going.

But the biggest nemeses was the Rangers offense—a familiar culprit—and its inability to hit with runners in scoring position. The Rangers had a lot of runners in scoring position. They drew ten walks, with another on through a hit batter. Combine that with their eight hits, the Rangers had more traffic than LBJ at 5:00 on a Friday evening. They just couldn’t get it in. Meanwhile, the White Sox scored at will, winning 10-4. 

The Rangers slipped two games out of the third wildcard spot as their wildcard freefall continues. Luckily, the Astros lost as well, so the Rangers remain a half-game out of first in the West. Winning the division seems to be their best bet at making the playoffs.

They just have to be better than one bad team, not better than eight bad teams.
