It’s just a matter of perspective, I guess. 

After Sunday’s 7-6 victory over the Diamondbacks, Rangers manager Skip Shumaker said he was proud of the resilience of his Rangers team, how they have been able to storm back into the race for the American League West division, sitting just one game behind the Astros.

This wasn’t the resiliency of the Boston Red Sox who were left for dead until they won 15 games in a row, catapulting themselves from last place to the playoffs. No, this special brand of resilience Schumaker was proud of stemmed from the Texas Rangers ability to somehow win two games in a row. Not 15. Two. 

One would have to look all the way back to Friday to see the last time this Texas Rangers team lost a game. Since that loss to Arizona, the Rangers have indeed been resilient, refusing to lose Saturday or Sunday. 

Now, with this incredible—possibly even historic—two-game winning streak, the Rangers have suddenly found themselves on the precipice of the American League West division lead. 

So, is there a better word to describe the 2026 Texas Rangers than resilience? 

Yes, there is. But it’s not a printable in a respectable blog.
