Texas salvaged the last game in the series against the Yankees. They did it in the most Rangers way possible. Few runs scored, a ton of men left on base.
The squandered opportunities early. It was the New York’s pitcher’s first game, and he was nervous, struggling to find the strike zone. Didn’t matter. His two first-inning walks didn’t score. His second inning walk didn’t score.
Instead, the Rangers swung at pitches when they shouldn’t have, and let so many changes slip by.
Luckily, Nathan Eovaldi found his game, going seven shutout innings with Jacob Latz going the final two.
In the end, the Rangers broke a three-game losing streak and ended their homestand 4-5 and their first month of the season (with March tossed in) at 15-16.
Right down the middle of the road.
