The first month of the season is in the books. The Rangers are about where they were expected to be. Average, at one game below .500.
The bright spot so far this season has been Josh Jung. He deserves all the praise for what he has done this season considering all the frustration that was heaped upon him the last two and a half seasons.
Without Jung, this team would be buried. Maybe even worse that the Astros.
This is the guy who started the season 0-for-17. It looked like his great decline was in full swing—swing being the operative word. He chased everything.
But something clicked once the calendar turned to April. Jung is batting .381 since April 1. He’s leading the team in average, on-base percentage, OPS, doubles, and is second in hits and RBIs.
With Seager struggling so much, the Rangers really needed Jung to step up. He and Brandon Nimmo are the only two reliable offensive weapons the Rangers have.
Not since the first half of his rookie year has the reality of Josh Jung matched the potential of Josh Jung. Welcome back, Josh.
