Is it World Series yet? No. Not until tomorrow. One thing is clear watching the playoffs that led to this point and the brand of baseball the last four teams standing play: the Rangers had no business at all even thinking they were a playoff-caliber team. Houston got swept out […]
Since neither the Rays nor the Brewers has ever won a World Series, one of these two franchises will hoist its first ever championship flag. They’ll have a parade and players will raise the trophy in victory. And there will be joy all around. It’s been a good time for fans […]
It’s the World Series baseball didn’t want. Two small revenue teams slayed the big revenue teams to make it. The tiny Milwaukee Brewers knocked off the colossal Los Angeles Dodgers to get there. The tiny Tampa Bay Rays knocked off the colossal New York Yankees to get there. And just […]
Once again, the Rays ace Drew Rassmussen is stepping up in the biggest arena. Against the Yankees in the Division Series, Rasmussen tossed a gem, taking a no-hitter into the eighth before allowing a non-eventful single in a stifling 1-0 win over New York. In Game 1 of the Championship […]
The Tampa Bay Rays won 98 games in 2026, 13 more than the Cleveland Guardians. They are the better team, by far. Often, though, the challenge with the playoffs is the better team doesn’t win, for one reason or another. In Tampa Bay’s case at least for the first three […]
Rain washed out yesterday’s Game 4 in Cleveland. It’s scheduled for today. It’s an interesting matchup, the Rays and Guardians. It’s a Tampa Bay team that has never won a World Series, and a Cleveland team that has the longest World Series championship drought, having last won in 1948. They […]
You can’t keep a good team down. It was just a matter of time before Shohei Ohtani broke out of his slump. It happened in the second inning of Game 4 of the Championship Game, with two runners on. The four-time MVP had been mired in a horrible slump, driving […]
The Brewers will not be denied. Up two games to none in their best-of-seven series, the Brewers scored on the very first pitch of the game, a deep home run by Jackson Chourio. The way Milwaukee’s Robert Glasser was pitching, that one run looked like it was going to hold […]
With Freddy Paralta’s arm and Liam Hick’s bat, the Rays were able to take Game 2 of their Championship Series 3-1 over the Guardians and avoid heading to Cleveland down two games to none. Peralta went six strong shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks, striking out six. […]
The Brewers refused to lose last night. Every time the Dodgers scored, they answered right back, and then some. Down 1-0 after the first half-inning to the mighty, indestructible, undefeatable Dodgers with their dominating starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound, they were written off as dead. One run is all […]
