What a relief.

Jacob Latz has assumed the role of closer in a bullpen that is dominating baseball.

At least the Rangers bullpen is getting it done. The relief ERA is 2.74. (And these numbers are factoring in Robert Garcia and Chris Martin.) The next best team is San Francisco, at 3.01. The next best American League team is Seattle, at 3.20.

What does it mean that the three teams with the best bullpen ERA are all under .500?

The Rangers are doing this without high-strikeout numbers. Only two bullpens have fewer strikeouts than the Rangers.

Payton Gray and Gavin Collyer have 0.00 ERAs. Jacob Latz’s is 1.02. Tyler Alexander, 1.72. Jakob Junis, 1.76. Jalen Beeks, 1.84.

Will they be able to sustain these numbers? Time will tell. But at least one aspect of the Rangers game is outperforming expectations.

Now if this can just rub off on the offense. And the defense. And the rotation.
