Offense, finally.   Recently updated !

Joc Pederson, batting leadoff, hits a first-inning HR.

Maybe all it takes it to write off the Rangers. It seemed to work. A day after they slipped into an offensive coma, the Rangers awake to one of their best offensive games at home.

Maybe it takes something as crazy as having Joc Pederson lead off. Who makes a lineup switch that insane? Of course, Pederson leads off with a home run.

Maybe all it takes is desperation.

The fifth inning was a thing of beauty. A rarity to be sure. Up 3-1, the Rangers scored four runs by piling on the hits, hitting with runners in scoring position, hitting with two outs—all the things that have been impossible for this team to do most of the season, especially at home.

After Pederson struck out, Brandon Nimmo tripled, and the Rangers were off and hitting. Corey Seager grounded to first but the throw home was late, so Nimmo scored and Seager made it to first. One run in. Josh Jung singled. First and second, now. Evan Carter grounded out, moving both up 90 feet. Ezequiel Duran singled in Seager for the second run in the inning. Alejandro Osuna singles in the third run. Jake Burger singles in the fourth run.

When it was all said and done, four runs on five hits—three of them with two outs.

It was a most satisfying display of offense. And anything but the boring baseball the Rangers had been foisting on their fans all season long.

More, please.
