The stick always seems to be just a bit too far to grasp the carrot.
The last time the Rangers were at .500 was May 1, at 16-16. They got within one game of .500 on May 13, then lost two in a row. They got within one game of .500 on May 20, then lost four in a row and six of seven. They got within one game of .500 June 2, June 5, and June 7. Only to lose, lose, then lose again.
Last night, they squandered opportunities early. Nathan Eovaldi ran out of gas in the sixth, giving up four runs. Then the Rangers fell short of a comeback.
Another attempt just to be mediocre failed again. The frustration tour that is the 2026 season continues.
