A FITTING FINAL LOSS. Yesterday, I recounted Top Ten Moment # 5 of the Rangers 2017 season. Here is what I wrote about it at the time. Reposted from the morning after Nomar Mazara drove in his 100th and 101st run of the year, October 2, 2017, the last game […]
Top Ten Moment #5: Nomar Mazara picks up his 100th RBI. Milestones are nice. Even numbers are nice. Nobody likes ending a season batting .299. They want .300. It just looks better. When you read .299, that pesky “2” stands out like sore thumb. It wants to tell your brain, […]
Seasons greetings from Rangers Rounding 3rd.
The Rangers off-season thus far has been active, not spectacular. No splashes. No ripples. Just a few pebbles dropped in the ocean. The rotation as it stands now is not spectacular. Last year’s Darvish, Hamels, Perez, Cashner, and Griffin was better than this year’s Hamels, Perez, Fister, Minor, Moore. The […]
Sometimes it’s easy to forget these players are humans. When you are a kid, they are your superheroes. They can do no wrong, even if they strike out four times a game or give up ten runs in the first. You love them, you defend them, you live and die […]
Lost in the media hoopla and fan frenzy and pre-world Series parade planning over the Rangers bolstering their pitching staff with key additions of Mike Minor, Doug Fister, and Matt Moore, was the acquisition of a new center fielder in the Rule 5 draft. The Rangers have their next Delino […]
I went to a charity event at the Ballpark Tuesday night and saw Joey Gallo speak. He talked about his year and his struggles in the past. He talked about how he was filled with self-doubt. How he didn’t know if he would make it. And he said it took […]
The irony is rich here with Martin Perez. A pitcher who should be in the Rangers bullpen had his 2018 season derailed by a bull in a pen on his ranch. Reports are he fractured a bone in his non-pitching (right) elbow after being startled by a bull on his […]
THE END. Yesterday, I recounted Top Ten Moment # 6 of the Rangers 2017 season. Here is what I wrote about it at the time. Reposted from the morning after Joey Gallo hit his 40th and then 41st home run of the year, October 1, 2017. It was also the […]
Top Ten Moment #6: Joey Gallo hits home run number 40. There was no greater redemption story in 2017 than the story Joey Gallo wrote. After his dismal 2016, he was pretty much written off by everyone, his manager and, whether he wanted to admit it, probably himself. The […]
